 ABC Dogz, LLC is owned by Kathryn Gossett. She began her training career as a volunteer at Pet Behavior and Training Services in Dayton, Ohio in 1992. At Pet Behavior and Training Services she was privileged to learn from and work with Fran Linden and Dr. David Tuber. There she assisted with group dog training classes and private consultations for dog and cat behavioral issues. During a client’s initial visit to Pet Behavior and Training Services she would scribe detailed notes of Dr. Tuber’s treatment plan for the client. On subsequent visits she worked with the clients on implementing their treatment plan. Here she learned the benefits and uses of counter-conditioning and desensitization.
In 1998 she was introduced to the fun, and highly effective method of clicker training. She began teaching group clicker classes in 2000 in Ames, Iowa to help others learn about this dog-friendly training method! She continues to teach group clicker classes in Iowa in the Ames and Ankeny areas. She is a volunteer at the Animal Rescue League of Iowa where she participates in PupCamp (a program where volunteers train shelter dogs in a group setting to help increase their chances of being adopted and of staying in their new home) and in the teaching of classes.
She is certified as a pet dog trainer through the Certification Council for Pet Dog Trainers, is a professional memeber of the Association of Pet Dog Trainers, a 2003 graduate of Pat Miller’s Peacable Paws Level 1 Trainer Intern Academy and a 2004 graduate of Bob Bailey’s Introductory Operant Conditioning Workshop (a.k.a. Chicken Camp).
